Dripper Light
Dripper Light is a lighting design inspired by the ritual of pour-over coffee, translating the slow, controlled drip process into a sculptural lighting form. Designed for Gantri and manufactured in San Francisco, the piece explores how familiar everyday rituals can inform lighting language and atmosphere.
Produced using 3D printing with PLA-based materials—a plant-derived sustainable bioplastic—and existing lighting fixtures and hardware, the manufacturing method enables on-demand production while reducing the need for traditional tooling and inventory storage. Gantri was one of the first manufacturers to explore and scale production using 3D printing. The form references existing lighting typologies but reinterprets them through the lens of coffee-making, emphasizing rhythm, flow, and simplicity.
The project focuses on material efficiency, contemporary additive manufacturing, and an expressive yet restrained product language, resulting in a warm, expressive lighting object rooted in everyday ritual.
